Child Welfare (Reintegration)
Reintegration / Foster Care provides comprehensive case
management services to children and families. Local DCF offices
refer children in need of out-of-home placement. Each child’s
situation and needs are immediately assessed. Reintegration staff members have the responsibility of
placing each child in the least restrictive environment possible,
while providing safety, guidance, and stability. Every effort is made
to keep a child within
his/her home community. Visitations between
the
child and the birth family are facilitated. Birth families also receive
counseling and are directed to appropriate resources so they may
deal with familial issues. Most children are reunited with their
birth families; however, those who cannot be reintegrated move on to
adoption or independent living services.
Adoption
Reintegration / Foster Care provides adoption
services for children with identified resources whose parental rights have
been severed through the court system or relinquished by the birth parents.
