ages 8-12. Kidz Kamp provides a safe, secure environment with fun,
exciting, and educational activities. Days are filled with
swimming, horseback riding, hay-rack rides, challenge courses,
horseshoes, outdoor games, educational sessions, crafts, and a talent
show.

Kidz Kamp Horseback Riding
Community Outreach has offered day summer camps for our children in foster care
for many years. Many of our children live in communities where they are the only
one in foster care in their school or in the entire county. They tend to think
they are the only ones in the world living away from their families. SFCS believes these camps play a big part
in helping these children connect and spend time with others under the same
circumstances.
It is wonderful to see the look on their faces the very first day when
they learn everyone at camp is in foster care! We learned after the first
year to have small notepads ready for each one as they were writing
addresses and phone numbers on napkins and anything else they could find.
They very much felt a connection. For more information on Kidz Kamp, please

Life Skills Training
The Life Skills Training program is designed for youths 15 years of age
and older. The goal is for youths to be able to obtain and maintain a stable
and safe place to live, be able to obtain and maintain stable employment,
have information on post-secondary and financial options, have information
on parenting and/or basic child care, and know how to
access medical and mental health services. Every youth will have identified
at least one adult mentor in the community to whom he or she can go for
support. For more information, please view the
Independent Living Retreat Brochure or contact 913.367.5085.
