Prayer of St. Francis

Our namesake and patron, Saint Francis of Assisi, said "We should seek not so much to pray but to become prayer." That’s why we hold his famous prayer in such high regard. It helps us "live into" our Mission Statement to be instruments of healing for children, youth, and families.

Lord, make us instruments of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is discord, union;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.

Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;

To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love;

For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life;

Amen

Therapy In Christ

The recognition and honor of the presence of God within each person distinguishes Saint Francis Community Services from most child welfare agencies. Therapy in Christ, the spiritual component of our highly successful treatment programs, is integral to our holistic approach to healing the spirit, mind, and body. Therapy In Christ incorporates four basic principles:

  • Unconditional love
  • Forgiveness as the greatest instrument of transformation
  • Honesty and frankness in accepting the consequences of one's actions
  • Starting and ending each day with God

These principles undergird our continuum of care which ranges from prevention and intervention programs to residential facilities.

Fostering In Faith

Change a child's life today!

As people of faith, we believe that one of the most powerful acts we can perform on behalf of children is to hold them in our prayers.

The Fostering in Faith ministry enlists congregations, religious organizations, and individuals to pray for children in need of adoptive families. It ensures that children desperate for a "forever family" are held in prayer and not forgotten by our faith communities.
