Saint Francis Community Services provides a broad range of child and family services.

Kansas Services

We work directly with children and youths whose parents have either relinquished their parental rights or had them terminated through the court system. As a result, these children need loving “forever families” to help them heal from the loss of their birth parents and grow into happy, fulfilled adults. Adoption is also a wonderful way to begin or grow your family by making a lifetime commitment to a child.

Child Welfare

The goal of every foster home placement is the eventual return of the child to his or her own family. Once the Department for Children and Families refers a child to foster care, our child welfare staff works hard to place them, when possible, within their home county. In the meantime, we help birth families find the resources they need to correct issues that led to the child’s removal from the home.

Kansas | Family Preservation

Family Preservation

The Saint Francis mission is to serve children and families, and we believe strong families make children’s lives better. Our Family Preservation program provides therapeutic support and services to families in danger of having a child removed from the home. Once referred, we work with the family to resolve issues that threaten its health and stability before that ever happens. Our goal is to make it possible for a child to stay home.

Foster Parenting

There are many reasons why a child might be placed into foster care, but usually it’s just because a good kid is stuck in a bad situation. We work hard to improve that situation so the child can return to his or her birth family. In the meantime, foster parents play a vital role in providing for the care and protection of the child temporarily placed in their home. It’s an important job, and it carries with it the potential to change lives – both the child’s and your own.

Independent Living

Independent Living

Every child that ends up in foster care is meant to return home. Whether that home is with a restored and healthy birth family or with an adoptive forever family, foster care is supposed to be temporary. But, sometimes, kids stay in foster care - for a variety of reasons. When they turn 18, they “age out” of the system, often unprepared for life on their own. Saint Francis’ Independent Living Program (ILP) provides critical support to youth making the transition from foster care to adulthood. Saint Francis staff provides them with the instruction, skills, and support they need to live successfully on their own.

Mission Engagement

The Mission Engagement Team brings together Saint Francis employees from across the organization, representing broad and diverse roles, perspectives, and skill sets to form a “think tank” for how our organization might continue to live in to the ministry to which we are called. Framing our work in The Five Marks of Mission, accepted widely across the Episcopal Church, our creative collaboration seeks to Tell, Teach, Tend, Transform, and Treasure through a variety of innovative initiatives that advance the mission of Saint Francis Community Services.
